South Indian Filter Brewer
You're looking at a modern specialty coffee oriented revisiting of the most common traditional household coffee brewer in South India! Only slightly modified so as to honor and preserve India's incredible coffee tradition, but tweaked just enough to allow coffee geeks to better control extraction, this is our take on a classic. These were redesigned and imported by Pacifica Renew Inc who collaborated with two artisans (Imran and Mohammed) in India. Made from 100% yellow brass (the traditional metal used in India for making these brewers) and designed with either a hammered brass or etched brass finish. The Souther Indian Filter Brewer can be used via the traditional method or a hybrid modern method. -Traditional method: Medium grind size, place even bed of grind on the metal filter bottom. Place the water dispersion tools (called a "tamp" traditionally) on the grind. Pour all the water, no bloom, one pour. Set it and let it drip. Enjoy! -Hybrid modern method: The redesign intentionally allows for the use Kalita's flat bottom paper filter (Kalita Wave 185 Filter Papers). This allows you to bloom, swirl, stir, do multiple pours etc etc. You end up with a zero bypass dripper that is filtered by paper and metal. Have fun!
